September 16th Release - Levels, Credit Usage, and More

Two things change together: your AI now has a level, and credits are now charged for what you actually use.

Levels are here.

Until now, the places that describe how far along an AI is showed a training-fidelity percentage. Those places now show a level: on your profile, on other people's profiles, in Connect, and in Discover.

Your level does not start at zero. Everything you've already done has been counted towards your current level. Turning this on reveals a number that reflects the work you've already put in, rather than starting you at the beginning.

Two ways to earn Life Experience.

  • Teaching your AI. Every fact you add counts immediately. There's no threshold to cross first. Some areas are worth more than others: something about your identity counts for more than a passing note.

  • Using your AI. Credits you spend also earn Life Experience, at a lower rate.

Why teaching pays more than spending.

A level is meant to show how much of you your AI has. Not how much time you've spent working with it.

Nothing you've already earned is taken away. Levels only accumulate, and the level you see on day one already reflects your history.

Credits are now charged for what you actually use.

This is the part to read carefully, because it changes what comes off your balance.

Until today, most things were billed at a flat rate, a fixed number of credits per image, per second of video, per minute of voice… and chat messages were free. Those flat rates were set once and didn't reflect what any particular request actually took to run.

From this release, four things are billed on measured cost instead:

Previously

Now

Chat

free

charged on what the message actually cost to answer

Images

flat rate per image

measured cost of the generation

Video

flat rate per second

measured cost of the render

Voice

flat rate per minute

measured cost of the audio

What that means in practice.

Most messages are cheap. A short back-and-forth costs very little, and there's a small minimum per message so tiny requests don't round to nothing.

Long or heavy messages cost more. The expensive ones are messages carrying a document or an image. Your AI has to read the whole thing, and that reading is the cost. A conversation about a 40-page PDF costs meaningfully more than a one-line question.

Some things get cheaper. You'll now pay less than you did yesterday.

You can see it. Your credit balance and history show what each action cost, so nothing is happening off-ledger.

If you have questions about your balance, ask in chat - it reaches us directly and we'd rather answer than have you guess.

We prioritized important fixes.

  • A cancelled video gives your credits back. A hold on a render you cancelled is released instead of lingering.

  • Your AI no longer reports a task as finished unless it actually finished.

  • Your web avatar tells you clearly when you're out of credits rather than failing quietly.

  • Publishing to subscribers gives a real error instead of a generic one.

  • Professionals can see conversation stats.

  • Side-navigation icons scale properly and show their states.
